Leather, ash, metal rope.

Copenhagen, Denmark

Sit!
When approaching this project, I aimed to incorporate elements of Danish design with modularity to promote sustainability. To create a stool that could have its seat and connection material changed while taking up the same silhouette. I aimed for it to be flat-packed, allowing it to come back on the plane from Copenhagen to the US. I did not want there to be any hardware holding it together, a rope of chosen material secures the legs.

On a one-week study tour we were taken to design museums and houses of famous Danish furniture designers. One of these designers, Bruno Mathsson, successfully used webbing in his designs. I experimented with nylon webbing to find my measurements before weaving the leather seat. Each of the three pieces that hold the stool are identical, so can be interchanged or easily replaced if damaged. The chosen measurements are all divisible by 3, a stool is 45cm tall, a leg is 6cm wide, and the woven straps 3cm wide. This methodology helped sculpt the shape, and make decisions happen.

The aspect of an interchangeable seat provides the user the ability to choose what fits their space. The stool can become a side table, placed in line, or stacked up to 4 units.

URBAN FARM • LISTENING LOUNGE • MAKERSPACE

Spring 2026
Professor Alison Snyder

With an everlasting need for green space in the city, this project embodies sustainablitly and a circular ecosystem. Providing peace and a base for growth and prosperity, this site is located in the heart of the Bowery (farm in Dutch). Aiming to be a pillar of the community, similar to a co-op, users can exchange work for fresh produce and other benefits. Water is recycled with nutrients, compost provides new growth from old, sunlight is captured through leaves’ chloroplasts and photovoltaic cells. Patina is an indicator of growth over time, as remnants of life are leave a footprint and with each cycle leave more of a mark.

A summer filled with custom built in furniture. Working in the homes of luxury clients, I learned how to work around different contractors and how to collaborate in
smaller spaces.
